A week after his runner-up finish at the Class 3A state cross country meet, Chamberlain senior Max del Monte led all bay area runners with a 19th-place finish at the Foot Locker South Regional Championships in Charlotte, N.C.

Competing in mid-50s temperatures -- blissful by most runner's standards -- del Monte navigated the five-kilometer course at McAlpine Greenway Park in 15:22. The top 10 finishers qualified for the Foot Locker nationals in San Diego in mid-December.
